Beuys/Vuitton Remade, 2006:
Wall text:
For this exhibition Adrian Lee has remade two works that Joseph Beuys produced in collaboration with Louis Vuitton in 1967. The felt-and-fat handbag is a signature piece that was shown at the Victoria and Albert Museum as part of the 2001 Louis Vuitton Retrospective. Relocating these works from a fashion environment to an art context produces new meanings. The viewer is forced to question the motivations of both Beuys and Vuitton and the success of their hybrid offspring.
